Illinois Youth Dance Theatre to put spin on Christmas classic

Illinois Youth Dance Theatre will present Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday in the Performing Arts Center at Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich.

The company of Illinois Youth Dance Theatre includes more than 60 members, ages 4 to adult.

IYDT will feature a guest artist, Sam Pergande, formerly with the Joffrey Ballet. Alyce Keaggy-Brinkmann is the artist director of IYDT. She danced professionally with the Milwaukee Ballet Company for 13 years beginning in 1983. She was promoted to soloist in 1986, and is a faculty member of the Milwaukee School of Ballet.
