Chicago middle school principal dies during root canal
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday for a middle school principal who died during a root canal at a dentist's office on Chicago's North Side.
Georgette Watson of Skokie died Monday morning after going into cardiac arrest during the procedure at the offices of Feldman & Feldman DDS.
The 46-year-old woman had been principal of Brentano Math and Science Academy in Chicago since 2003.
Chicago police say Watson was sedated before the root canal but it wasn't clear if she was given a local or general anesthetic.
According to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Web site, the licenses of two dentists in the office were put on probation this summer. The Web site lists "substandard dental work and failure to maintain records" as the reasons.
