Oberwies has no comment on lawsuit from collision
Dairy executive Jim Oberweis declined to comment on a lawsuit filed against him in Kane County circuit court when reached by telephone Saturday, except to say "We'll let the insurance companies handle it."
According to the lawsuit filed last week, Maribel Villalobos of Batavia is seeking $50,000 in damages, claiming she was injured when their cars collided Nov. 7, 2006.
Oberweis did state, "She hit me," when asked about the circumstances of the crash, but would give no other details.
In the lawsuit, Villalobos contends that Oberweis was making an illegal left turn, did not signal, was speeding and was driving without his glasses at the time of the accident. She said in the lawsuit she was knocked unconscious and sustained neck and back injuries requiring physical therapy.
Oberweis is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. representative for the 14th Congressional District. He recently received the endorsement of Congressman and former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who is vacating the post.
Villalobos was not able to be reached for comment.
