Kaneville woman charged with financial identify theft
Deborah C. Irlbeck, 46, of the 2S100 block of Harter Road in Kaneville was arrested Friday on a warrant issued by Sugar Grove police, according to Investigator John Sizer.
Irlbeck was taken into custody by Sugar Grove and Hinckley officers at her place of employment in Hinckley. She is charged with financial identity theft and forgery, both felonies, police said.
Irlbeck forging a check for more than $22,000 on an account belonging to her former boyfriend and used his identity to open up at least one credit card account without his knowledge or consent, police said.
She was also charged with filing a false police report with the Sugar Grove Police Department, another felony, police said. That charge stemmed from a report she filed last February when she claimed that she and her boyfriend were victims of identity theft, without admitting that she was the one who had been using the fraudulent account, police said.
After her arrest, she was taken to the Sugar Grove Police Department and then to the Kane County Jail, where she remained Saturday in lieu of bail set at $65,000.
