Time for something 'completely Janus'

The Janus Theatre will present "And Now for Something Completely Janus: The Holiday Review."

The production will open today at the Elgin Art Showcase on the eighth floor of the Professional Building and will run through Dec. 23.

Producing Director Sean Hargadon directs this comedy of shorts, making it the first holiday production for the theater since ending its six-year run in 2005 of "The Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris.

After years of producing "The Santaland Diaries," the rights were not renewed to perform the play in 2006, leaving Janus without a holiday show for the first time in six years.

Because of this change, the company decided to take the year off from the holidays while it prepared to move into the new Elgin Art Showcase.

This year's show will feature Joseph Schuman of Elgin, Sean Hargadon of Elgin, Patricia True of Oak Park and Kelly Bolton of Chicago. The production is stage-managed by Tara Schuman and house-managed by Kristin Albert.

The show, "And Now for Something Completely Janus: The Holiday Review," will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 23 at the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division St., eighth floor of the Professional Building in downtown Elgin.

Tickets are $15 regular, $12 student/senior, $10 for groups of eight or more, and can be reserved by calling (847) 931-0637.
