Lake Zurich High choirs perform
Lake Zurich High School choirs will present their holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the LZHS Performing Arts Center.
Lake Zurich High School is at 300 Church St., Lake Zurich. Admission is free; doors will open at 7:05 p.m.
Highlighting this concert will be a processional sung by all of the choirs: 200 choir students will join together to sing the Hanukkah song "Light One Candle," made famous by Peter, Paul and Mary. Concert Choir will perform "A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas." This piece has 12 short movements presenting each "day of Christmas" in the style of a different time period and composer, including Vivaldi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and John Philip Sousa. The concert will end with the choirs and audience singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.
• At 2 p.m. Sunday, the Performing Arts Center will host the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band groups for the Lake Zurich High School Holiday Band Concert.
• The LZHS Orchestra will present its holiday concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Performing Arts Center.
• Bare Voices and Blue Notes will present their annual "Holiday Extravaganza" concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the LZHS performing arts center. Admission is free; doors will open at 7:05 p.m. Each group will present the holiday show which they have sung throughout the community for the past month. The performance will feature many well known holiday songs with choreography, props, staging and a few technical surprises.
