East Varsity Drill Team explodes at competition

Twenty-four teams from 15 Illinois high schools competed in "East Explosion," the first competition of the 2007-08 season for TeamDance Illinois, a Geneva-based, nonprofit dance and flag team alliance.

Performing in two dances, the East Varsity Drill Team took first place for its Open Dance routine and second place for its Kick routine.

Both dances were choreographed by members of the team. East Varsity coaches are Kelly Sharbaugh and Adrienne West.

This year's Varsity Drill Team members are: Alexis Aguilar, Katrina Badowski, Brittany Brueske, Ellen Byington, Hanna Byington, Anna Cook, Sarah French, Rachel Frohlichstein, Kristin Heydorn, Jaclyn Hickey, Dana Janisch, Taylor Joyce, Heather Jurkovic, Lauren Karalis, Jill Martens, Kelsey Martin, Paige Mattson, Daisy Mojica, Kylie Pattyn, Andrea Pavela, Jill Senechalle, Bailey Sone and Katie Wolf.

The Junior Varsity Team members are Kelsey Anderson, Anna Badowski, Michaela Ferowich, Caitlin Gabehart, Heather Jurkovic, Mary Miles, Jeanine Morency, Hannah Muehlfelt, Sarah O'Rourke, Carly Ourada, Brooke Parker, Emily Roberts, Catelyn Robertson, Emily Roth, Rachel Salveson, Olivia Sandstrom, Casey Sturgeon, Sydney Wallace, Kellie Weaver and Jennifer Zankl.

Varsity Colorguard members include: Kim Kessler, Kelley Knudson, Ashley Winn, Robin Swanson, Kaitlynn Mayer, Leah Culbertson, Meagan Guerin, Alicia Abendroth, Samantha Voll, Dyan Jorgensen, Samantha Traina, Carlie Langille and Bailey Miller.

The JV Colorguard members include Keith Boatner, Karlee Smith, Maggie Benhart, Amanda Woods, Sarah Shields, Kelsey Broadhead, Sesan Farbaky, Ashley Woods, Erin Carmichael, Sarah Loonam, Robin Travis, Nicole Reid and Geraldyne Schneider.
