UIC edged in quarterfinals
The Illinois-Chicago men's soccer team's bid for the program's first-ever trip to the College Cup slipped away on an icy Rudd Field on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Massachusetts in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals at Amherst, Mass.
The Flames finished 13-6-6 after advancing to the Elite Eight for the first time.
"Congrats to UMass," said UIC head coach John Trask. "Their staff has done a great job, it's a tough environment here, and they have great fans. The ball seemed to rub their way, and hats off to them."
In Sunday's other quarterfinal, host Ohio State shut out Bradley 4-0.
