Christmas concert at Holy Trinity

The vocal choirs, small orchestra and handbells at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin will present a Christmas concert, "Come Ye Faithful," at 3 p.m. today at the church, 357 Division St. A reception, bake sale and basket raffle will follow the concert.

A Blue Christmas Service will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 19. This service is for anyone who has a hard time during the holiday season. The public is welcome to this quiet service of prayer, candle lighting, Scripture and music. A reception will follow the service.

Oak Crest hosts book sale this week

Oak Crest Residence and Atrium Apartments invites the community to attend their monthly book sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Atrium, 204 S. State St. in Elgin.

The book sale consists of more than 1,000 gently-used books, along with VHS movies and CDs. Hardbacks cost $1 each and paperbacks are 50 cents.
