High court to post oral arguments on Web

SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Supreme Court plans to begin publishing video and audio recordings of oral arguments on its Web site beginning next month.

Court officials said the arguments are expected to be available on the Web site no later than the day following the hearing. A podcast feed will also be available on the site, www.state.il.us/court.

Chief Justice Robert R. Thomas said the new technology will provide those who appear before the court with a record of their appearance.

Plus, he said, it will help the public better understand what the state's high court does.
