To take the first leap onto the road to stardom, the Fox Valley can be a great place to step off. The following auditions have been set.
"Triumph of Love": Janus Theatre will hold auditions for the Fox Valley premiere of "Triumph of Love" by Pierre Marivaux. Auditions are scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Elgin Art Showcase, eighth floor, 164 Division St. in downtown Elgin.
After producing "The Game of Love and Chance" in 2001 and "Changes of Heart" in 2003, Janus is back to complete the Marivaux trilogy with this enlightened comedy.
Auditions are by appointment only. One classical monologue is preferred, but sides will be available. Go to www.janustheatre.org for information and to request an appointment by e-mail.
All roles are open. They are looking for four men and three women:
• One man in his 20s: idealistic, eager to learn and new to the world.
• One man in his 20s-30s: A Harlequin, a clown. Wise to world and always on the make. Can move well on stage.
• One man in his 20s-40s: A working man, gardener. Stern and to the point.
• One man in his 40s-50s: articulate and philosophical. Believes in reason, not love.
• One woman in her 20s: cunning, articulate and on a mission to win a man's heart. But she wins more than she intended.
• One woman in her 20s: the friend of the women above. More than just a sidekick, she's her own force to be reckoned with.
• One woman in her 30s-40s: A devotee of philosophy. Is seduced despite herself.
This production will be directed by Sean Hargadon, producing director for Janus Theatre.

"Run for Your Wife" was included in the British National Theatre's 2000 list of significant plays of the 20th century. For details, visit www.elgin-theatre.org.
