Candidates not talking key issues

I watched the two-hour YouTube debate last night. The questions were so guarded it was pathetic. Not a lot of time was spent on how to balance the budget or fix social security.

Yet our investigative arm of Congress, Comptroller General David M. Walker, tells us we are on a path to financial ruin. He believes that our top priorities should be the budget deficits, the national debt, and social security. Yet little discussion time was spent on these two issues. None of the candidates want to take a position on these issues.

How hard would it be for each of the candidates to state that we will go back to pay-as-you-go-budgeting which Bush dumped for tax cuts to the wealthy as one of his first moves as president. And how hard would it be for the candidates to say they would remove the social security tax cap, which by itself Social Security actuarial estimates would eliminate the projected 75-year funding shortfall.

America has got to stop living on credit and start living on a balanced budget like the rest of us do. My vote is going to any candidate that wants to restore the pay-as-you-go budgeting of eight years ago, and also the candidate that will remove the cap on social security. The debate didn't begin to touch on our real problems.
