Pathetic Judy Sigwalt tirade all too familiar

This is in response to a couple of stories in the Daily Herald concerning Carpentersville.

The first is about the so- called vandals in Carpenter Park damaging the newly planted crab apple trees planted along a path in the park. Trustee Judy Sigwalt refused to listen to the Parks Committee and their concerns that planting trees that are meant to be specimens in a row will attract a large amount of bees, insects and other wildlife and when they drop their fruit it will create a mess on the path.

After intelligently examining the evidence, it was obviously deer that damaged the trees.

I have had eight trees damaged on my property just in the last two years. Trustee Judy Sigwalt's reckless tirade suggesting there was some political conspiracy and that Park Chairman and Trustee Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski was somehow behind it, was pathetic and foolish. The knee-jerk reaction from Sigwalt is typical.

The other story is Village President Bill Sarto vetoed a vote to sell 30 guns to a gun dealer for $3,000. Trustees Sigwalt, Humpfer, Teeter, and Ritter voted to sell the guns to the dealer so they could be back on the streets wreaking havoc on life and limb. Sarto, Ramirez-Sliwinski and Hinz voted to have them destroyed.

Every police department in America ceremoniously destroys guns in this situation but not backward Carpentersville, a town that has dozens of drive-by shootings a year.

Sigwalt's response was that they "were trying to be fiscally responsible and keep taxes down." What? This is coming from a person who has voted consistently for the past nine years to increase taxes and fees across the board. Even back when there were no improvements to infrastructure, streets or public works.

It is time for the taxpayers of Carpentersville to wake up and remove the divisive, hateful and fiscally incompetent players who are the source of the village's bad image.
