An abortion should not be convenience

The author of the Nov. 12 letter "If only men could become pregnant" states that it says in Genesis 2:7 "that you become a living soul when you begin to breathe." She goes on to say that: "If a fetus is born and doesn't breathe, it is not a life."

It is her way of insinuating a fetus is basically insignificant until it breathes and can therefore be subject to termination before that occurs.

Most of us are hardly experts on interpreting the Bible, but how can you compare the event of God creating Adam by forming him "of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life" as a being the same as a fetus finishing its journey and emerging to take its first breaths?

The author goes on to say that pro-life advocates are just pro-fetus. Well, I'll gladly accept that and hope all people will recognize that the development of the fetus is the God-given process that we all come from. It should be revered and respected and not frivolously terminated.

A woman's right to choice is certainly necessary to keep us from returning to the dark ages of unsafe abortions. Hopefully, a woman on her own or a couple partnering to make a sensible choice will arrive at the right decision by being more knowledgeable of the tremendous responsibility they have.

A decision to terminate this process for shear convenience is just outright wrong.
