Church event gives parents afternoon off

Parents can participate in the Joint Youth Ministry of Community Protestant Church and Ivanhoe Congregational Church's "Parents Afternoon Out" from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at Ivanhoe Congregational Church, 21078 W. Route 176 in Mundelein. The youth and a few adult helpers will watch children up to age 12 while parents handle holiday errands.

There will be games, movies, story time and cookie decorating. And a man in a red suit might make a special appearance at 1:30 p.m. Participating parents are asked to make a goodwill donation. Any funds received will help a mission project sponsoring a child through Global Ministries.
