Prochno should fill Krause's 66th seat

To the editor: I urge all Republican and independent voters in the 66th District to vote for Christine K. Prochno to fill the seat of retiring state Rep. Carolyn Krause.

Christine Prochno is a teacher, active in her community, former member of Elk Grove's Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission and has served as a trustee in Elk Grove Village since 1997.

Her involvement in her community makes her extremely qualified to serve the 66th District.

Unfortunately, one local political organization has endorsed Christine's primary opponent, who has no experience as either an appointed or elected official other then serving as a precinct captain and secretary in her local political organization.

Her one experience in running for elected office did not result in a victory, and while I am sure she is a nice and personable individual, the area has become a prime target for a Democratic takeover unless voters elect a person in the February primary who can win against a Democrat.

Paul Froehlich was elected as a Republican. He deceived the people who voted for him (by) switching to the Democratic Party a few months ago. I have been told Mr. Madigan and his cohorts are salivating at the thought that Christine's opponent may win the primary and (Democrats) will win the 66th District easily.

While the demographics of the Northwest suburbs are changing we do not need any more Democrats taking over.

This situation reminds me of one a year ago, when the Wheeling Township organization endorsed a Libertarian turned Republican (turned Libertarian again) in the primary against state Rep. Sid Mathias. Thankfully Mathias won the primary and the election.

This is no time to be working against the best interests of the Republican Party, whether moderate or conservative. Christine Prochno has a common-sense approach to state government and will work hard to break the gridlock that state government has become.

Does the district want to send another Democrat to Springfield to vote with Mike Madigan and Emil Jones and the rest of the Chicago delegation or do they want someone who will work for the residents of the 66th District?
