2 children dead in early morning Chicago fire
Firefighters say two children are dead and two other people are injured from an early morning fire that ravaged a crowded home on Chicago's southwest side.
Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford says the two young children died after rescuers performed CPR. A third victim was being airlifted to an area hospital and a fourth was being treated for severe burns.
The fire began in the brick single-family home shortly before 5 a.m. and spread to the first floor.
Langford says there were as many as 10 people inside when the fire began.
Firefighters are investigating what started the blaze, and Langford says there were some working smoke detectors inside the home.
