Thanks for help with big leaf-raking job

On Nov. 21, students and faculty of Fox Valley Lutheran Academy came to our home with their equipment and raked the leaves from our yard. It was another one of their days of giving.

These young people are getting a wonderful Christian education. We are very proud of them.

A wish list for the Christmas season

Here is my Christmas list:

1) I want my Christmas back. It is not the Holiday season. It's the Christmas season.

2) I want my country back. We are not half American and half Mexican. This the United States of America.

3) I want an honest politican in the state of Illinois. Starting at the top. (Good luck on that!)

4) I want to be able to afford my home in my retirement years. (In case you are working for the state, that means less government spending, which relates to less taxes!)

5) I want some consideration for senior citizens when they reach 65, like cutting their property taxes by 50 percent. They have paid enough over their lifetime.

6) I want my state of Illinois government back. A government of the people, by the people, for the people. Not one of the government, by the government, for the government -- which it clearly is in Illinois.

7) I want a new state Constitution.

8) I want to rid our city of home rule.

9) I want less government in the educational system.

10) Finally, I want people to be kinder to one another. More patience. More respect.
