Take, sell cars if no license, insurance

It is getting more and more each day that we read in the paper of drivers who have no insurance and are driving while their license is suspended or without having a driver's license at all.

The people we have in Washington, D.C., and even the toy soldiers we have in Springfield can't seem to come up with a solution. All they wish to do is give licenses to illegal aliens so they can keep track of them or use it in some states to vote.

Maybe if we make the laws tougher, we can get something done. If a person is stopped for something and they get a ticket, let's take the car away and give them 60 days to prove they have a valid license and car insurance. If not, let the town, city or village sell the car.

We have enough problems with people talking on their cell phones, putting on makeup, drinking and eating while driving, let alone worry if the person who just hit you has car insurance.

Some states have these laws in place already. A new car dealer or used car dealer has to be shown the buyer has car insurance before they can drive the car off the lot.

Any person who buys from a person other than a new car dealer or used car dealer should have to prove it to the state upon requesting a title change or obtaining license plates. Any insurance company who sells car insurance in Illinois should have to notify the secretary of state's office within 10 working days that so and so canceled their car insurance. The state then should notify that person their driver's license is invalid.
