Hoffman Estates man accused of running over teen

A Hoffman Estates man will appear in bond court today on charges that he ran over another man with his car.

Hoffman Estates Sgt. Jim Campbell said Jose Villegas, 22, of 2012 Bayberry Lane, was charged Friday with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property.

Campbell said the incident occurred about 11:40 p.m. Thursday at Bode Road and Salem Drive.

Campbell said Villegas was driving behind another car when the two stopped at the intersection. An 18-year-old then exited the passenger's side of the car in front of Villegas and an argument ensued.

After that, Campbell said, Villegas bumped the car in front of him and, when he went to drive off, ran over the 18-year-old.

Campbell could not provide a condition of the victim but said he was taken by paramedics to a hospital.

Villegas is scheduled to appear in a Rolling Meadows bond court today.
