'Blame America' crowd is wrong

To say that I was appalled after reading Stephen P. Beisiegel's letter of Nov. 3 is actually an understatement.

Are you another member of the "Blame America" crowd? There are certainly plenty of them around.

Let's be clear: 9/11 was not a spectacle! A circus is a spectacle; death is not. You called the death of more than 3,000 people minuscule. I am sure the relatives and friends of the people lost in the Twin Towers would disagree.

Have you recently read our Constitution and Bill of Rights? My husband and I got out our copy and can't figure out where you got your examples and opinions.

The only things that we are aware of are long lines at airports and legal wiretapping on suspected terrorists. The latter has nothing to do with the average citizen. I'm sorry, but that doesn't equate to, "Taking all our rights away."

You mention torture. Please read John McCain's book. Real torture? Visit the Holocaust Museum in Skokie. We don't torture.

I would bet you know nothing about how the FBI, CIA or the military operate. If you did, you wouldn't say some of the things you said. At least you are an equal opportunity insulter.

You should stop reading blogs on the Internet and open a history book instead.

It's a sad commentary, what some people believe and how badly our educational system and politics have sunk.
