Park to host memorial service

Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines will hold a Celebration of Light Memorial Service for members of the surrounding communities at 6 p.m. Saturday in the chapel, Swan Lake Mausoleum, 9900 N. Milwaukee Ave.

This is a memorial service to honor loved ones who have died. There will be a "Tree of Remembrance" onto which participants can place a special ornament in remembrance of the ones they lost.

A food drive will be held along with the service. Participants are asked to bring donations of nonperishable food items to the memorial service.

The food drive is being held through Maine Township Emergency Food Pantry. The communities that will be receiving the donations include Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Niles, Glenview, Morton Grove and Rosemont.
