Mitten Tree Project to benefit needy

The Des Plaines Special Events Commission and the Health & Human Services Division of the City of Des Plaines will be coordinating the "Mitten Tree Project" during the holiday season.

The purpose of the "Mitten Tree Project" is to collect new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for individuals within our community who are in need. This is an opportunity for individuals, families, groups and businesses to support this program and help a child/children, adults or seniors.

Proceeds will go to children of Des Plaines schools and others in need.

Collection site locations are at Des Plaines city hall-Health and Human Services Division, 1420 Miner St., fifth floor; Des Plaines Park District-Prairie Lakes Facility-515 E. Dempster St.; Des Plaines Public Library Children's Department, 1501 Ellinwood St.; Midwest Bank, 749 Lee St.; and Des Plaines Frisbie Senior Center, 52 Northwest Hwy.
