Elk Grove 53, Barrington 43

Elk Grove 53, Barrington 43: A first-quarter run made all the difference for host Elk Grove, which caused a 17-1 drought for Barrington.

Although the Fillies were able to make up a little ground, it wasn't enough as the hosts took the Mid-Suburban League girls basketball crossover 53-43.

"We got a win and that's all we can say," said Elk Grove coach Jim Wills. "It's positive we got a win."

But it wasn't the most fundamentally sound game. Neither the Grens (4-2) nor Fillies (1-5) were completely satisfied with their play.

"When you have a 33 turnovers and still get a win, you're fortunate a little bit," Wills said. "We need to be more consistent. We do some great things at times and then some silly things at times."
