Elgin fire did $450,000 in damage

A fire that swept through an Elgin chiropractor's office Friday caused an estimated $450,000 damage, authorities said Monday.

The blaze, reported about 11 p.m. at 1750 Grandstand Place, caused about $250,000 damage to the building and about $200,000 damage to the contents of the office, said Battalion Chief Dan Wagner of the Elgin Fire Department.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Monday, Wagner said.

Chiropractor Dana Landin, who was working in the office Friday, leapt from a second-floor window to escape the fire, but later said he was not seriously injured.

Wagner said at least two firefighters reported suffering minor injuries responding to the call.
