Authorities hunt for man who robbed Arlington, Rolling Meadows banks

An armed man federal agents believe robbed banks in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows within a half-hour Saturday morning remains on the loose.

Authorities say the Chase Bank at 43 E. Golf Road in Arlington Heights was robbed around 10:15 a.m. Saturday by a man who handed a teller a note demanding cash and implying he had a gun.

The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates said Monday.

About 15 to 20 minutes later, authorities say the same man entered the TCF Bank branch at 1415 Algonquin Road in Rolling Meadows and announced he was robbing that bank.

This time, the suspect displayed a handgun and wore a black ski mask pulled over his face. Authorities say he left with an undisclosed amount of cash and was observed getting into the passenger seat of a late-'90s burgundy Nissan Altima.

Yates said similar witness descriptions led investigators to believe the same man robbed both banks. No shots were fired and no one was injured in either robbery.

The suspect is described as being about 5-foot, 6-inches and 140 pounds. He was wearing a hooded corduroy jacket, dark jeans and black gloves.
