Akorn gains FDA vaccine approval

BUFFALO GROVE -- Akorn Inc. announced FDA approval of a supplemental biologics license application for a unit dose, preservative free tetanus diphtheria vaccine. Akorn expects to launch this new vaccine in the first quarter of 2008. In March Akorn announced it had entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Massachusetts Biologic Laboratories for tetanus diphtheria vaccine. Since September, Akorn has been marketing a multi-dose preserved version of the tetanus diphtheria vaccine. This new approval will allow Akorn to effectively compete in the estimated $225 million U.S. market.

Amcore Bank opens new branch

DEERFIELD -- Amcore Bank announces the opening of its new branch in Deerfield at 677 Lake Cook Road. A ribbon cutting and grand opening event is planned at 5 p.m. Dec. 13. The new branch adheres to standards set by the Clean Air Counts Lake Cook Partnership. The Deerfield-Bannockburn-Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce will present Amcore with a clean air plaque at the event.
