Officials still searching for cause of Elgin fire
Elgin fire officials are still searching for the cause of a blaze on the city's west side that badly damaged an office building and forced a doctor to jump to safety from a second-floor window.
That doctor, chiropractor Dana Landin, declined to comment Sunday other than to say he was doing fine.
The fire broke out Friday night in the office building at 1750 Grandstand Place. Landin was at the office late to do paperwork, said his co-worker, chiropractor Renee McMurry-Gilman.
Fire and police officials would not release any new information Sunday, but Cptn. Greg Benson said a report detailing the fire would likely be available today.
