Danger of sending text while driving
Sending or reading a text message while driving at 30 mph -- there are 5,280 feet per mile, at 30 mph you travel 5,280 times 30 or 158,400 feet in one hour. Divide 158,400 by 60 minutes equals 2,640 feet per minute.
Divide by 60 seconds, equals 44 feet in one second. Divert you eyes for two seconds to text or read and you go 88 feet, which is more then two 18-wheel semis long.
At 3 seconds, it's 132 feet. At 60 mph, it's264 feet.
Consider 2 seconds on and 2 seconds off three times with one second between or eight seconds at 44 feet per second. That's 352 feet. That's more then a football field. At 60 mph, it's 704 feet.
What can happen in 704 feet at 60 mph? Think about it.
