Elgin's outdoor ice rink is now open for business

City Skate, Elgin's outdoor refrigerated ice rink, is now open for the season.

City Skate is located on Civic Center Plaza, between Hemmens Auditorium and city hall. The ice rink is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Ice skate rental is $4 with identification and only available when the warming shelter is open. Warming shelter hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

The warming shelter will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. during U-46 holiday break and no school days. The ice rink does close occasionally for private events and ice skating lessons.
