Stephen F. Austin keeps Huskies from getting first win

DEKALB -- Forward Josh Alexander scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks past the winless Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday at the NIU Convocation Center.

The Lumberjacks (4-1) staged a balanced offensive attack with three of their starters getting into double digits, including Alexander; guard Eric Bell scored 18 and center Matt Kingsley had 16. Alexander also led all players Saturday night in rebounds with 9.

The Huskies (0-6) had just one player in double figures. Forward Egan Grafel had 11 points, while forward Shaun Logan added 7 and guard Darion Anderson had 6.

The Lumberjacks, who took a 37-29 lead into halftime, shot well from the field -- making 54 percent (31-of-57) for the game.

The Huskies, who were hoping for their first win during their season home opener, shot just 39 percent (18-of-46).
