The briefs

Another candidate files

Campton Hills resident Gary Moore on Friday became the 16th candidate to file for one of eight seats in the village's new government. Moore is seeking one of six seats on the village board. Voters also will elect a village president and clerk on Feb. 5. Candidates so far include four incumbents, all of whom were appointed by a judge earlier this year to serve temporary terms until the next regularly scheduled election. Campton Hills came into existence seven months ago when voters approved incorporating the 20-square-mile village west of St. Charles. Filing ends at 5 p.m. Monday.
