NIU goes for first win

Stephen F. Austin (3-1) at Northern Illinois (0-5)

When: 7 p.m. at NIU Convocation Center Radio: WSCR 670-AM

The skinny: After a rugged road stretch to start the season, Ricardo Patton's first Huskies squad finally gets to play its first home game. NIU already looks different than it did in its 2 exhibition victories, as nine different players already own starts. Freshman guard Darion "Jake" Anderson has jumped into the starting lineup (he had a career-high 23 points in 39 minutes at Indiana State on Tuesday) along with senior post Egan Grafel (8.2 points and 6.6 rebounds in just 18.4 minutes per game). The Lumberjacks' lone road game was a 60-44 loss at Texas Tech. They get 20.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game from 6-foot-9 junior power forward Matt Kingsley.
