Writer noted cruelty toward the 'different'

Letter writer Cheryl Bast's words put into context exactly my feelings. I, too, have had my character attacked and been persecuted for being "different."

Last month, I gave credit to an organization whose members I thought were different. I learned that just because I share one thing in common with others doesn't mean acceptance.

I laud the Daily Herald on its two recent autism stories. But now I think it is time to tell the adult side of the story. I hope I am not twisting Bast's words when I use them for the context of my situation: "Individuals in such a situation should be provided with all the options available to them…"

I thank those like Bast for standing up to the crass and cruel people who have nothing better to do than boost their fractured egos at the expense of their neighbors.
