Nominate your favorite holiday displays

What could be better than driving around to see holiday lights with the family or friends? It's free (well, except for the gas), cozy (as long as the car heater works) and allows you spend some quality shoulder-to-shoulder time with those you love. Not to mention beautiful sights.

This year, we want your suggestions, with photos, for our annual list of some houses or subdivisions that are worth the drive. We'll round up the most promising ones and publish them in Neighbor on Dec. 21.

You can nominate yourself, some house you simply drove by, or a whole neighborhood or street.

Include the exact address (include the house number and city), driving directions from a major intersection, along with a description about what makes the display special. The more information we have, the better chance it will make the list, so tell us how many lights are used, how much it cost, extent of the decorated area and special features, such as animation, audio, synchronized lights, trains, sleighs, live actors or Nativity scene.

We want you to send a photo along with your nomination. Entries with photos will be most highly considered. Hint: The best time to shoot night photos is at dusk before it's completely dark. Don't use a flash, but do use a long shutter speed and a tripod, or steady the camera on something solid. Send several photos if you like, but please, no more than three.

Include your name and contact information, along with the name and contact information for the owners of the home, if you're not nominating yourself.

Enter by e-mail only, to lakeneighbor@dailyherald.com by Dec. 4. No phone calls, please.
