Today, let us all give thanks

Let us give thanks...for the American Indians who shared their food and knowledge with the Pilgrims, for the wise writers of the Declaration of Independence, that a compassionate and courageous President signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and that we have former U.S. elected officials who currently give their time to various volunteer organizations. (Although retired and/or tired, they are continuing to demonstrate their concern for their fellow man.)

Thanks also to the ordinary citizens who volunteer in schools, as Big Brothers or Sisters, as helpers in food pantries and other groups serving the homeless.

We can be grateful, too, for the awakening of the nation to the effects of global warming and the future it will bring.

The list could go on; please take a few moments to think of all the things for which you give thanks.
