New trustee on Palatine Township board
A new trustee has been named to the Palatine Township board.
Art Goes, 61, who's been active for years in local politics, was sworn in Monday night.
He replaces longtime Trustee David Miller, who moved out of state earlier this year.
"I just want to contribute to the team effort," said Goes, who owns a software company in downtown Palatine.
There was one other applicant for the seat, Kevin Drucker, of Hoffman Estates. But he withdrew from consideration on Monday, Palatine Township Clerk Kevin O'Connell said.
Goes will serve until May 2009 when he will have to run for election to retain the seat. He has supported several current trustees and said he's looking forward to being part of the team.
Goes has run unsuccessfully for Palatine village trustee. He also served on the Palatine Elementary District 15 school board in the late 1970s.
"Art is a good addition to the township board," said O'Connell. "It's a very easy fit for the board."
