Wheeling Amvets donate to medical center
AMVETS Post 66 in Wheeling recently made a large donation to the North Chicago VA Medical Center. They applied for and received a grant from the state of Illinois for $75,000 for a wheelchair bus. This new bus will be used to take veterans from the nursing home at the VA on monthly outings in the community.
"Our veterans really enjoy the opportunity to go to local restaurants, movies, plays, museums, sporting events, as well as other places in the community," Medical Center Director Patrick L. Sullivan said. "This generous donation makes it all possible."
Anyone wishing to sponsor one of these community outings for veterans at the North Chicago VAMC can call (224) 610-3714.
The AMVETS also donated 50 hospital-grade LCD flat screen TVs, worth over $33,000, for each patient room on the acute medical ward. These new TVs not only look good with a great picture, but they also have the bedside remote with a nurse call button.
The North Chicago VA thanks Wheeling AMVETS Post 66 for their generosity and continued care and support.
