Brooks commits to Purdue

Palatine senior defensive end Monroe Brooks made a verbal commitment Monday morning to play football at Purdue University.

Brooks, a 6-foot-6, 242-pound defensive tackle, chose the Boilermakers over a scholarship offer from Indiana. The Mid-Suburban West co-defensive player of the year helped Palatine to its first postseason appearance and victory in 10 years.

Brooks finished with 45 tackles with 12 for losses and 6 sacks. He also was receiving college interest in basketball.
