Hunt on for Palatine bank robber
Palatine police are looking for a man who robbed a grocery store bank Sunday morning.
Police said the man, after implying he had a gun, convinced a teller at TCF Bank, 423 E. Dundee Road, to hand over an undetermined amount of cash.
He then fled the bank, which is located in a Jewel Osco, before getting into a car and leaving the area.
Palatine police Cmdr. Randy Walker said no one was injured in the incident, which happened about 10 a.m.
"It was a very busy place," he said. "Other than the people in the bank and a few members of the store and the staff, I don't think the customers really knew what was going on."
Walker said the man engaged the teller in conversation before handing over the note.
"The weapon was implied, not displayed," Walker said.
Walker said police interviewed a number of witnesses. He also said the police are examining video from the store and the bank.
"We are actively investigating it, along with the FBI," he said.
He said that after interviews were completed and the crime scene was processed, the TCF was turned over to bank personnel.
"The Jewel operation was not disrupted," he added.
