Christian Science

The community is invited to a Thanksgiving Day service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 111 S. Second St., Geneva.

Singles, seniors, teens, couples, and families are welcome. The hour-long service will be a time for singing hymns, praying together, and listening to a Bible lesson on the theme of Thanksgiving. No collection will be taken at the service. Childcare will be provided for young children.

The Thanksgiving Bible lesson can be read throughout the month of November at the Christian Science Reading Room, 10 N. Third St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Lutheran

Rejoice Lutheran Church welcomes all to its Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 0N377 N. Mill Creek Drive in southwest Geneva. Bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to the local food panty.

• Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road in Batavia, will have Thanksgiving worship at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the sanctuary.

• Lord of Life Lutheran Church will have a Thanksgiving Eve worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The church is at Route 38 and LaFox Road, three miles west of Randall Road in LaFox.

Sunday morning worship is at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

• Hosanna! Lutheran Church has a Thanksgiving Eve communion worship service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. There is also a prayer vigil from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8 p.m. in the worship space. The church is 36W925 Red Gate Road (at Randall Road) in St. Charles.

• The annual service of Lessons and Carols will be at 3 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 in the sanctuary of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road, Batavia.

Music for Advent and Christmas will be presented by two adult and two children's choirs, a hand bell choir and instrumentalists. Those attending are invited to participate in the singing of Advent hymns and Christmas carols.

The identical free programs are organized by music director Sharon Dalpini, who directs several choirs. An offering will be received. The public is invited.

Community

A community Thanksgiving Eve Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Episcopal Church, 222 S. Batavia Ave., at Main Street and Route 31 in Batavia.

This annual worship service is sponsored by the Batavia Ministerial Association and includes participation by a number of congregations and agencies in Batavia.

The Rev. Dr. David Foxgrover, senior pastor of Batavia Congregational Church, will be guest preacher. Other participants include the Rev. Michael Rasicci, rector of Calvary; the Rev. Michael Stoner of Batavia United Methodist Church; and the Reverends Reynold Samundsen and Sally Pierce, chaplains at the Holmstad.

Following the service, participants are invited to stay for a reception in Calvary's Rectors Hall.

Non-denominational

A Taize prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora.

People of Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox heritages are welcome.

The service includes Scripture reading, musical mantras, silence and candle lighting.

Adriana Pickens of Naperville will be the prayer leader.
