Merit Homes offers five ranch plans

Most mature adults want the convenience of single-level living, mainly because it eliminates having to walk up and down stairs.

Comfort and relaxed living is their first priority, but these home buyers also want spare bedrooms for when their kids are home from college. Other empty-nesters are interested in a home large enough to accommodate their grandchildren's frequent visits. That is why Merit Homes offers five different ranch plans at The Enclave at The Reserve at the Merit Club in Libertyville.

In addition to the benefits of one-level living, buyers are attracted to the architectural design of the ranch plans. High ceilings throughout the home and open floor plans establish a feeling of spaciousness. Kitchens, family rooms and living rooms flow into each other, making entertaining convenient, while separate bedroom areas provide privacy and personal space.

Large basements are perfect for creating a spacious recreational room for teenagers, or they can be transformed into in-law quarters with a full bath.

"When out-of-town guests remain for an extended stay, you can still maintain your privacy," said Jeri Szatko, Director of Sales & Marketing for Merit Homes. "Ranches are also more suitable homes when in-laws need a temporary or permanent residence," she added.

At The Enclave, buyers can choose from seven homes; two are two-story designs featuring first-floor master bedrooms. With 1,800 to 3,000 square feet of space, homes have two to four bedrooms and up to 3½ baths and are priced from $680,000 to $780,000.

Catering to mostly empty-nesters and young professionals who enjoy single-level living, the Forrester is a popular ranch with three bedrooms and 2½ baths. A huge great room with vaulted ceiling and fireplace has floor-to-ceiling windows and access to an oversized patio.

The kitchen, with its center island and eating nook, has a large breakfast room and faces an optional screened porch. To the left is the master bedroom suite with its walk-in closet and deluxe master bath. On the other side of the home, there are two bedrooms providing privacy for the owners and their guests. Bedrooms two and three share a hall bath, while the media room converts into a study, living room or fourth bedroom.

Another ranch perfect for entertaining is the Montclair, with 2,355 square feet, three bedrooms and 2½ baths. The kitchen, hearth room and living room flow together, making this traffic pattern a wonderful choice for those who enjoy entertaining.

Straight ahead from the foyer is a large living room with a cathedral ceiling and a huge picture window facing the back of the home. To the left is a kitchen with a center island and breakfast room next to a hearth room with its own fireplace. A patio can be made into a screened porch with access to the breakfast room and hearth room.

To the right is the bedroom wing with a large master suite sporting his and her walk-in closets and a deluxe master bath. Bedrooms two and three share a hall bath.

Home buyers who value natural beauty and cherish privacy will want to visit The Enclave, a new section of 17 semicustom ranch and two-story homes in The Reserve at the Merit Club in Libertyville.

The gated community is composed of 102 semicustom homes and 26 1-acre custom homes on 100 acres of rolling land. Honored with the "Best Overall Community" award from the Home Builders Association, the community was recognized for excellence in design and construction.

Rolling hills, mature trees and scenic protected views combine for a resortlike setting. New homes will overlook the pristine fairways of the Merit Club private golf course or large groves of mature trees.

Jeri Szatko, director of sales and marketing, says home buyers can customize their homes. There's a lot of flexibility, and they can select from the same finish level as the custom home buyer.

Upgraded luxury features come standard at The Enclave. Homes include oak flooring, Kohler fixtures, maple cabinets, granite countertops, full masonry fireplace, extensive trim details, cedar shake roofs, zoned temperature control, fire suppression systems and patios.

Also, Merit Homes guarantees its buyers that the natural setting will remain a conservation area forever. Home buyers understand that there will be no future development because the site is protected by a conservation easement.
