Fundraiser to benefit sick girl
Nick's Pizza and Pub, 990 S. Randall Road in Elgin, will sponsor a fundraiser for Mikayla Lesko from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Mikayla is a third-grader at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Elgin. In May, the 8-year-old became sick on and off with flu-like symptoms and, on May 20 had a five-hour grand mal seizure. After being transferred to different hospitals, she was diagnosed with St. Louis Encephalitis, the result of a mosquito bite and a West Nile-related disease.
Mikayla was unconscious and unresponsive for weeks, and as a result she is in ongoing therapy to relearn cognitive and small motor skills. She is still having seizures on an almost weekly basis.
Mikayla's family needs your help. With all the doctors, therapies, medicines and ongoing seizures, her mom is trying very hard to work and keep Mikayla on the road to recovery.
Fifteen percent of the sales generated from this fundraiser will be given back to the organization. All alcohol sales and tax will be deducted from the total.
