Get your fill of Paul in 'The McCartney Years'

Paul McCartney, a British singer/songwriter/musician, became internationally famous in the 1960s as a member of the Beatles. As a solo artist, he has sold millions of records, and his concerts sell out quickly. There have been some individual videos and DVDs of various reincarnation's of McCartney's solo and group efforts, but never a collection like "The McCartney Years."

"The McCartney Years" (Rhino, three discs, $34.99)

This definitive collection includes more than 40 videos along with more than two hours of live performances. Starting with "Maybe I'm Amazed" and ending with "Fine Line," all of McCartney's songs are included. They can be viewed in chronological order with Paul commenting on each one. Each video has been remastered, and they look and sound great. The live shows feature Paul's band Wings on its world tour, McCartney unplugged and performing at the Glastonbury festival. The bonus features include a documentary, commentary, personal introductions, never-before-seen footage and performances and more.

Music-related DVDs

"Help" (1965, Capitol, two discs, $29.98)

Richard Lester directed the hit film "A Hard Day's Night" for the Beatles, and they reunited for a follow-up with "Eight Arms to Hold You." The real reason for the film was to feature the music of the Beatles, and the name of the film was changed to "Help." It is a silly film, a mix of James Bond and the Marx Brothers, that revolves around a ring that Ringo is wearing. If the bad guys obtain it, they can rule the world. The scenes play out like music videos, and the songs are classic. The film has been digitally restored, and the bonus features include documentaries, a deleted scene, theatrical trailers and radio promos. There is a deluxe edition ($134.99) that includes a reproduction of the original script, eight lobby cards, poster, and a 60-page book with photographs and production notes.

"Barry Manilow: The First Television Specials" (Rhino, five discs, $39.99)

Barry Manilow has sold more than 75 million records in his 30-year career. This box set features five of Barry's television specials that ran from 1977-1988. The first special won an Emmy and was seen by 37 million people. His second featured Ray Charles, his third had John Denver, and the fourth had Dionne Warwick as his special guest. The final special, called "Big Fun on Swing Street," featured jazz, big band and Latin rhythms with a number of special guests.

There are three new titles in the "Marquee Musicals Collection." Each title from Fox Home Entertainment has been fully restored and retails for $19.98. The new titles to DVD are: "With a Song in My Heart" with Susan Hayward, Rory Calhoun, David Wayne and Thelma Ritter; "The Girl Next Door" with Dan Dailey, June Haver and Dennis Day; and "Bloodhounds of Broadway" with Mitzi Gaynor, Scott Brady, Wally Vernon and Marguerite Chapman. Each DVD includes featurettes and more.
