• Male actors and supernumeraries (particularly of different ethnic backgrounds) are sought to help populate the stage of the Lyric Opera of Chicago's production of John Adams' "Doctor Atomic." Co-librettist and director Peter Sellars conducts auditions at 10:30 a.m. today for male actors and at 6 p.m. for supernumeraries (including some children). • The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra (ESO) holds Stanger Young Artists Concerto Auditions on Feb. 2 in Irion Hall, Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect, Elmhurst. The Stanger Competition offers high school students a chance to perform a concerto movement with the ESO and a monetary award of $300.
