GOP leaders do nothing after office
My! My! One wonders if the conservative Republicans will ever get over having hissy fits over former Vice President Al Gore receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming.
When is the last time any recent Republican former presidents or vice-presidents did anything worthwhile after leaving office? Richard Nixon left office in disgrace and just licked his wounds. Gerald Ford played golf. Ronald Reagan just gave speeches at Republican gatherings. George Bush Sr. spends most of his time maintaining close relations with the Saudi family. Anyone even know what happened to Dan Quayle?
Three Democrats have gone on to participate in world affairs as well as in humanitarian causes after leaving office. Jimmy Carter is well known for his participation in numerous world affairs, and the organization that he founded called Habitat for Humanity is well-known for building homes in poverty-stricken areas. Bill Clinton is known for his humanitarian efforts to combat AIDS in Africa. And now Al Gore wins an Academy Award, one International Emmy, and most recently, a Nobel Peace Prize. Can anyone even begin to imagine Bush Jr. or Cheney working on any humanitarian project such as building homes in poverty-stricken areas? Can anyone even think of those two working hard to combat AIDS in Africa? Or can anyone even imagine that either of them will ever get serious about global warming?
To equate the names of Bush and Cheney with humanitarianism is an oxymoron.
