Collectibles show leads off weekend

Stars from the football field and the baseball diamond will align in Rosemont starting Friday.

Fans can peruse sports collectibles and get new autographs to add to their collections.

The 35th annual collectibles show starts at 5 p.m. Friday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road. It continues through Sunday. The show will cost $10 a day for adults, and $5 for children 7 and younger.

Denver Broncos Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and Chicago White Sox slugger Jim Thome will be on hand.

Chicago Bears Brian Urlacher, former Bears Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus also will be there.

Chicago White Sox legend Carlton Fisk, as well as former Chicago Cubs Billy Williams and Ryne Sandberg will be available for autographs.

Reggie Jackson, who won World Series titles with the Oakland A's and the New York Yankees, also will be signing memorabilia.

Of course, netting the sports stars' signatures will cost you.

A signed Elway football helmet or jersey will cost $249.

A ball signed by Frank Thomas, formerly of the Chicago White Sox, will set you back $250.

A helmet signed by NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice will run $169.
