Area seniors invited to Thanksgiving meal
Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village, will host its fourth annual Thanksgiving feast Saturday. Seatings are at noon and 2 p.m.
All area senior citizens, those who will be alone for the holiday and those unable to prepare a traditional meal are invited to join church member volunteers for a free Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, musical entertainment, crafts and fellowship. Children's activities will be provided as well.
A local Boy Scout troop will open the noon seating with a flag ceremony and the church's piano and string musicians will provide entertainment. At the 2 p.m. seating, a local Girl Scout troop will help serve guests.
Anyone interested in attending may call the church office at (847) 437-2666 to the noon or 2 p.m. seating. Walk-ins are welcome after 3 p.m.
Guests have also been invited through these community organizations: Alexian Village, Clearbrook Center, Elk Grove Park District Sheila Ray Center, Elk Grove Township Day Care Center, Ceda Northwest, Kenneth Young Center, Landmeier Station, Village of Elk Grove Community Services, Village Grove Apartments and Elk Grove Township General Assistance.

Tasty Catering will supply all the catering equipment including warming ovens, serving pans and utensils. Jarosch Bakery will supply bread for homemade stuffing as well as carrot cake for desert. Choo Choo Restaurant is providing six cases of apple and pumpkin pies. Decorations are being donated by Berthold's Flower Barn in Elk Grove, Goebbert's in South Barrington and The Pumpkin Patch, Prince of Peach United Methodist Church at Devon Avenue and Arlington Heights Road. Other types of donations came from Jewel, Lynfred Winery, Panera Bread Company, Lou Malnatis, and Belvedere Banquets.
Citi Cards in Elk Grove Village will provide 30 volunteers to assist as part of their Global Volunteer Day.
