Aurora man killed in motorcycle crash
A 20-year-old Aurora man was killed Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a car on the city's near east side, authorities said today.
The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. at East New York and Loucks streets.
Police say they found the motorcycle driver, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of family, lying in the roadway with massive injuries.
He apparently had been driving east on East New York Street when his vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda sedan heading south on Loucks.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He had not been wearing a helmet, police said.
The Honda driver, a 32-year-old man from Oswego, was uninjured. No other passengers were with him.
Witnesses at the scene say the Aurora man may have been with at least one other motorcyclist. Both appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed just before the crash, police said.
It's unknown at this point if any citations will be issued, police said.
Authorities continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call (630) 801-6610.
