Kaneland bomb threat cancels activities
A bomb threat was called into Kaneland High School on Monday, which officials deemed to be not credible after an investigation.
A "very brief" phone call to the school was made at 12:10 p.m., Superintendent Charles McCormick said.
Students were told to remain or return to their third block classes, where they stayed until school was over at 2:30 p.m.
A "crisis team" of teachers and administrators did a search of the school and found nothing to substantiate the threat, McCormick said.
Several Kane County Sheriff's Department officers and bomb-sniffing dogs did a more thorough sweep after school, he said.
After-school events, with the exception of an evening awards dinner and the school board meeting, were canceled.
High School Principal Tony Valente planned to address students today, reminding them that making a fake bomb threat is a felony, McCormick said.
Anyone with information that could be helpful to the investigation is asked to call (630) 365-5100, ext. 204.
